Plan your visit
Moo Canoes is based in Hackney Wick — one of East London’s most creative neighbourhoods, where industrial character meets calm waterways and open green spaces.
Set out onto the canals and explore a quieter side of the city, drifting between the Olympic Park, hidden towpaths and stretches of water that feel a world away from the buzz — without ever leaving it.
Choose from 4 routes during your time with us. Offering you chance for independent adventures! From easier, leisurely paddles through Hackney Wick’s woodland - to bigger challenges - all the way to Upper Clapton.
Depart south from the Hackney Wick base and head toward the historic Old Ford Lock, where you will experience a 2.5-meter descent. Continue south, passing the landmark Bryant and May Match Factory. Upon reaching the Bow Junction, turn left onto the City Mill River (part of the Bow Backwaters) to begin the Olympic Loop.
This scenic stretch takes you around the iconic London Stadium and ArcelorMittal Orbit. Along the way, you will pass Carpenters Road Lock—famed as the only lock on the canal network featuring radial gates at both ends of the chamber. Finally, you will return to Old Ford Lock to ascend back to Hackney Wick, passing the historic former cottages of Channel 4's The Big Breakfast.
